Ingredients
Method
Make the butter base
- Spread the softened salted butter across a wooden board using the back of a spoon, creating swooshes and swirls. Keep it evenly covered so toppings will cling to the ridges.
Top and serve
- Drizzle honey over the butter in thin lines, letting it pool slightly in the swirls. Aim for full coverage without soaking the entire surface.
- Scatter chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly over the top. Use a light hand so the colors stay distinct.
- Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes for contrast and a slight kick. Serve immediately with torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping.
Notes
Pro tip: for the prettiest swooshes, soften the butter until very spreadable (about room temperature) and build the board right before serving. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; let sit at room temperature 10 minutes to loosen before serving. Freezing is not recommended because the texture of the butter and toppings can change. For a dairy-light option, substitute a good-quality plant-based butter that’s formulated to soften and spread like dairy butter.
