Bomb Pop Cocktail

Bomb Pop Cocktail is a layered red-white-blue drink made by floating grenadine, coconut rum (or vanilla vodka), and blue raspberry liqueur for crisp separation. Serve it icy in a tall glass for a patriotic, tri-color summer cocktail with no bleeding layers.

Ingredients

Cocktail glass
  • Ice cubes Fill glasses to the top for the cold, clean layers.
Layered ingredients
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup Pour slowly so it settles into the bottom red layer.
  • 1 oz coconut rum or vanilla vodka Choose one; float over the back of a bar spoon to create the white middle layer.
  • 1 oz blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao Float over the spoon to form the electric blue top layer.
  • 0.5 oz lemon-lime soda Add after layering; use only a small splash so layers stay intact.
Garnish
  • 1 Maraschino cherry Add on top right before serving.
  • 1 striped straw Add as the visual patriotic accent; serve immediately.

Equipment

  • 1 bar spoon

Method

Build the tri-color layers
  1. Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice to the top.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice to settle as the bottom red layer without mixing.
  3. Hold a bar spoon just above the ice and slowly pour coconut rum or vanilla vodka over the spoon to float as the white middle layer.
  4. Pour blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao over the spoon again to float as the electric blue top layer.
  5. Add a small splash of lemon-lime soda and garnish with a maraschino cherry and a striped straw; do not stir before serving.

Notes

Pro tip: pour each liquid over the bar spoon slowly so it floats rather than breaking the layers. Best served immediately for the sharp separation; store covered in the fridge up to 1 day, but expect layers to blur. Freezing is not recommended. For a lighter option, use lemon-lime soda with a sugar-free version and swap to a lighter coconut rum or a lower-sugar vodka/liqueur if available.
