Ingredients

Meatballs
  • 2 lb frozen fully cooked meatballs Use frozen; no thawing needed.
Sauce
  • 18 oz BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup grape jelly
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
Garnish
  • 1 chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Method

Make the sauce in the slow cooker
  1. Whisk BBQ sauce, grape jelly, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder in the slow cooker until smooth and combined, then spread it evenly. The mixture should look uniform with no jelly streaks.
  2. Add frozen fully cooked meatballs to the slow cooker and stir to coat thoroughly in the sauce. Make sure most meatballs are covered before cooking starts.
Cook until hot and glossy
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or on HIGH for 2 hours, maintaining a steady simmer. Keep the lid on to hold heat and prevent sauce from reducing too fast.
  2. Stir once halfway through cooking to recoat the meatballs evenly and help the glaze cling. The sauce should start thickening around the meatballs as you stir.
  3. Stir again near the end until the sauce is glossy and the meatballs are heated through. Look for a smooth, shiny coating rather than a dull or watery finish.
Serve
  1. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, then keep the meatballs on WARM for serving. The surface should stay tacky-glossy as it warms.
  2. Serve with toothpicks so each bite gets a ribbon of sauce. Keep toothpicks handy to minimize dripping as guests lift the meatballs.

Notes

Pro tip: Stir halfway through and again at the end to keep the glaze glossy and evenly coated. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 4 days; reheat in the slow cooker on LOW until hot. Freezing is not recommended for best sauce texture. For a dietary swap, use low-sugar BBQ sauce to reduce added sugar while keeping the grape-jelly flavor balance.
