Honey Mustard Cocktail Sausages

Honey mustard cocktail sausages with a glossy, thick glaze—browned first in a skillet and then simmered until sticky. Whole grain mustard and Dijon make the sauce tangy, while garlic adds a warm aroma as it cooks.

Ingredients

cocktail sausages
  • 2 14 oz cocktail sausages
honey mustard glaze
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 chopped fresh chives for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 cast iron skillet

Method

Brown the sausages
  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and brown for 5-6 minutes, turning as needed, until golden on the outside.
Build the flavor
  1. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds over medium heat until fragrant. Keep stirring so the garlic doesn’t brown.
Make and simmer the glaze
  1. Whisk the honey, whole grain mustard, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce. Pour the mixture over the sausages so they’re coated.
Thicken to sticky
  1. Simmer the sausages for 8-10 minutes, stirring often, until the glaze is thick and sticky. Lower heat if it bubbles too aggressively.
Finish and serve
  1. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and chopped chives over the sausages. Serve warm with toothpicks.

Notes

For the stickiest glaze, stir frequently during the 8-10 minute simmer so the honey reduces evenly. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; rewarm in a skillet over low heat with a splash of water. Freezing is not recommended because the glaze can separate after thawing. For a gluten-conscious option, use a gluten-free soy sauce (the rest stays the same).
